Linked measurements for retrofitting: surface preparation, bonding agent and jacketing

Strengthening works repeat the same surfaces again and again. For a jacketed column you prepare the surface, apply the bonding agent, fix dowels and cast micro-concrete — and the first two share exactly the same area.

On the measurement sheet of the second item, choose Link measurements from and pick the first item. From then on:

  • the second item shows every row of the first, with all dimensions — not just a lump sum;
  • a Linked to Item # badge shows the source;
  • when you edit a dimension in the source, the linked item updates immediately.

Linked rows are read-only in the linked item, so there is one place to change them.

Unlink — keep a copy of the rows turns the mirrored rows into the item's own rows, ready to edit independently.

A typical jacketing sequence

  1. Surface preparation / chipping — measured column by column (perimeter × height).
  2. Bonding agent — linked to 1.
  3. Chemical anchor dowels — counted (nos).
  4. Jacketing reinforcement — rebar take-off.
  5. Micro-concrete — jacket thickness × perimeter × height.
  6. Curing — linked to 1.

EstiMatrix's next-item suggestions follow this order automatically when you add retrofitting items.

In the exports

The measurement sheet notes "linked to item n" and prints the mirrored rows, so a reviewer can trace every quantity.

Retrofitting quality depends on chemicals, equipment and crews as much as on quantities. The retrofitting article covers the method; Prime Base Engineering offers site assessment and turnkey execution.
